Looking at exchange rates before deciding where you want to go on your travels can be vitaly important. Choosing a country where the exchange rate works out good for your home currency, in the case of this article - the pound, it can make a world of difference to your next trip when it comes to what extras you can afford.

Whilst it is tipped the UK is on the verge of another recession, the British Pound has strengthened against a number of currencies over the last 12 months.  The majority of this chatter is that Europe is cheaper than it has been at any time over the past 16 months, with the Pound at a high against the Euro. What doesn’t seem to be mentioned as much is the fact that the Pound has strengthened against some other currencies too at a significant amount, making travelling to some places up to 25% cheaper!

Here are a few places the British Pound will stretch further than it did 12 months ago:

Istanbul, TurkeyThe Pound will go 25% further than it did 12 months ago against Turkish Lira.

Cape Town, South AfricaThe Pound has rallied against the SA Rand over the last year, it’s up 15%.

Mexico City, Mexico  – This year you will get 10% more tequila for your Pound in Mexico City.

Krakow, Poland – The Pound has strengthened by 10% in the last year against the Zloty.

Delhi, India – The Rupee had dropped over the last year meaning the Pound will now go 12% further.

On top of the advantage of travelling somewhere your money will stretch further, you may also be interested in using a prepaid currency card which you can pre-load with your chosen currency whilst the rates are at their best – again helping the pennies to go further.
