Have you ever had something crazy happen abroad?

For some reason crazy stuff just happens to me on the road all the time. At first I thought it was me. Do I attract this madness? The reality is I probably do a bit. I live in such a daydream that I wander into crazy situations quite a lot (mostly because of my own stupidity and the fact I live in la la land most of the time.) Thankfully most of it just turns into hilarious tales that I can tell my friends and family over dinner. One thing I have noticed though is that all of my crazy stories come from my travels. Rarely do I have a crazy tale to tell about home. Life is just a little more insane on the road, albeit a kind of insane that I enjoy (most of the time.)

With that in mind I thought I’d share a funny story with you about something that happened to me in Berlin a couple of years ago. It’s not even close to some of the crazy shit that’s happened to me on the road, but it is an entertaining story so I hope you enjoy! I felt it would be better told in person so I’ve created this video below to tell the story… :)

too funny! i’m glad you had a happy ending.

i was once robbed in ghana. i actually didn’t even realize i was being robbed until halfway through. the guy jumped out of a bush and pushed me down and the whole time i was trying to process if i’d tripped. i couldn’t for whatever reason wrap my head around the fact that i was actually being robbed. luckily he didn’t get much more than twenty dollars and an old travel purse.

Wow! I must say that I’d probably react the exact same if I was in this situation. I think I’d be so confused and shocked that I wouldn’t know what to do when i saw the protester! Luckily I haven’t had anything terrible happen to me while I was traveling. The worst thing I’ve probably seen was when a police office in France tried to tell me I had to pay him 100 euros to get on a train unless I wanted to be arrested. I panicked because I didn’t know why until another officer came over and I found out I did nothing wrong that the other office was just trying to make money off a tourist! I was very scared though because I thought he’d take me to jail for no reason.
