How to find the cheapest airport parking and hotels at Heathrow

London’s Heathrow Airport is the busiest airport in Great Britain and the fourth busiest airport in the world (as of 2010). It also handles more international passengers than any other airport in the world! As a result of such high density of passengers, you will find that paying for Heathrow airport parking, and/or booking Heathrow airport hotels can be particularly expensive. I therefore thought it would be useful to share a few tips on how to get the cheapest airport parking and hotels within the vicinity of the UK’s most popular airport.

Pre-booked parking

Pre booking your car parking, as apposed to just paying when you turn up, can save you a lot of money. For instance, if I was to drive up to a Heathrow Airport car park, and park my car for 7 days, it would cost me £16.40 per day if I was to pay on the day of departure. That’s a total of £114.80. If I was to pre-book my parking however, I can make a large saving on this. To give you an example, when I searched today on holidayextras.co.uk to pre-book 7 days parking from 30th June – 6th July, I can do so for £52.60. That’s a £62.20 saving. If you are flying on a budget airline somewhere in Europe, that amount could potentially pay for your flight, so it’s worth pre-booking your parking if you plan to leave your car at Heathrow while you are there.

Book your parking and hotel together

Like with many travel-related bookings, if you purchase more than one product or service from a provider, they will usually offer you a discount as an incentive to do so. Booking your parking and hotel together is no different. To give you an example, if I was to book a double room at the Crown Plaza Hotel Heathrow for the night of the 26th June 2011, it would cost me £66. To pre-book parking for one week commencing on 26th June 2011, it would cost me £56.80. That’s a total of £122.80. If you were to book both however, as a joint transaction on the site mentioned above or one similar, you can quite easily get a double room at the Crown Plaza Hotel Heathrow on 26th June + parking for the week for a total of £108. That’s a saving of £14.80.

These two tips can be applied to any of the world’s major airports. Heathrow being the busiest in Great Britain however, and the most popular with international travellers, I thought it would be a good example to use.
