It’s that time of year again where lots has been happening in my life in regards to ‘Runaway Jane’ that I thought you may be interested to hear…
HostelBookers Award Nomination
I’ve been nominated today for the most entertaining use of film in the HostelBookers Travel Blogger Awards 2012. Vlogging is definitely becoming my favourite aspect of blogging so it’s very cool to be nominated. If you would like to vote for me you can do so at the following link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HBloggerLove. I am in section 6.
Feature in The Sun
I was given a 2 page spread recently in The Sun newspaper here in the UK recently that you can see pictured above. The Sun is one of the most popular newspapers in the UK so it was a lovely surprise when they approached me about a feature in the paper. You can read the full article online at http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/scotlandfeatures/article4503667.ece.
Other interviews and features
I was also featured recently in the online travel industry publication Travelllll.com for my recent work and ‘Blogger in Residence’ position at PLUS Hostels. The article gives my advice on how to attain a similar position with a travel company which you can read at http://travelllll.com/2012/05/30/how-to-win-a-resident-blogger-gig/. I also wrote a guest post for ProBlogger.net on a similar topic which you can view at http://www.problogger.net/archives/2012/06/20/how-to-land-a-job-as-a-resident-blogger/.
Mslexia, the women’s literary magazine also featured an interview with me in one of their recent issues. Unfortunately the interview is not available online as you have to buy a subscription to the magazine to view it, but it was still nice to be interviewed!
Resident Blogger Position at PLUS Hostels
As I mentioned briefly above and in a previous post I am now the ‘Blogger in Residence’ for PLUS Hostels, a European hostel and camp site chain. The position has been ongoing from May 2012, so if you head over now at www.PLUShostels.com/jane/ to the blog you will find lots of original content on there now that will help with your travels in Europe.
Travels in Europe & North Africa
This summer has been a busy one for me. In fact, it’s been busy since March. On top of my usual work load for this blog and all related work activities I’ve visited 9 countries over the summer, including visiting the Greek Islands with Busabout – a destination I had been wanting to visit for a long time now. So thanks Busabout for helping out with that!
There are lots of things in the pipeline now work wise with what I’m doing at Runaway Jane, and in the meantime I will be at home in Scotland working away, spending some much appreciated time with friends & family back home. I hope to have more announcements to bring to you soon!
