Runaway Jane: The Travel Blogging Update

It’s been just over 4 months now since I launched Runaway Jane, and as with all things on the net, it has moved fast! Things have really been going from strength to strength, and so I thought I’d write a little update, and let you know what’s been going on with the website, my travels, and what to look out for here in the coming weeks and months!

Guest Posts

I’ve been guest posting all over the place of late, and there have been some great travel bloggers guest posting here on Runaway Jane.  Most notably, I am now a regular blogger for the popular Indie Travel Podcast website, who will also be interviewing me on the podcast during the summer on my upcoming eco travel ventures. Also look out for my posts in the next few days and weeks on A Travel Around the World, and Tourdust.

Writing for Print

As a direct result of my writing here on Runaway Jane, I have been featured in print both at a local and national level. The Linlithgow Gazette recently featured me with a half page spread, and I look forward to working with them on an upcoming regular travel column when my next trip takes off. I will also be featured in the cool artsy UK based magazine The Skinny in their travel column in the weeks ahead.

Launch of second website

I made my second venture into making travel websites a few weeks back with the launch of m second site – Jane’s Guide to Scotland. As a full time traveller, and a local Scottish girl, I feel like I have so many tips and knowledge on the country that is just too much to put into one post on here, so I’ve put it all into one dedicated website! It’s my personal guide to my home country, so please go along and check it out. There is already quite a lot of content on it already, but there will be lots more added in the coming months for those who have already visited the site.

eBooks

Going with the momentum, I have already started work on my first travel eBook. I don’t want to give away to many details just yet, but it should be complete and on a dedicated eBooks page on here within the next 4-5 weeks, so check it out when it’s complete and let me know what you think! In the mean time, I was honoured to find out I have been included in Tripbase Free Travel eBooks! For every 1 eBook downloaded they will give $1 to a charity providing clean water to those who need it. It’s a worth while cause, and has the travel secrets of many seasoned travellers. Not only that, but it is completely free!

Design Business

I’ve gone back to my routes lately and am doing some freelance design to help fund my future travels. If you would like a custom header, logo, or WordPress themed website, please get in touch and I will be happy to design something for you. I’m a recent design graduate, so I can offer a cheap price for those who are on a strict budget, but would still like something that is unique to them. You can find some samples of my work by checking out the Portfolio section of the website, although the page will be getting an over haul itself in the coming weeks/months including featuring more of my designs.

Travel Plans

Probably the most exciting news I have is that I will be attempting a journey by land and sea around the world later this year! I had originally planned just to do a journey by rail across Siberia, however I thought long and hard about it, and I’ve decided to really challenge myself, and extend that to something much more. The inspiration for the trip came from looking at my carbon footprint over the past years, caused in most part by the amount of air travel I was doing. It made me re-think my whole travel style, and if possible, I would like to inspire others to do the same.

Be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed if you haven’t already, for all the latest updates here on Runaway Jane. There is lot’s planned for the coming weeks and months, and I can’t wait to get started!
